Terms and Conditions
The call for submissions for the second issue of the international digital magazine “Artistam” is now open. This issue will be published in Fall 2024.
A – Title and Accepted Fields for Fall 2024 Issue
- The second issue of the Artistam international magazine is dedicated to the artistic fields of pottery, ceramics, and glass.
- This issue will be published under the title “Earth” and
In the philosophy of Abrahamic religions, earth is not only the point of origin but a symbol of return and eternity. Adam, the first human, was created from earth, and in this sacred cycle, humans ultimately return to it. In Iranian mythology, Mashya and Mashyana were also born from “rhubarb,” a plant rooted in the earth. This ancient element is perceived across various cultures as a source of sustenance and creation, the beginning and end of life, the simplest yet most profound substance of existence. Pottery, ceramics, and glass are among the oldest art forms originating from the earth. In the artist’s hands, earth transforms—sometimes into clear glass, other times into sturdy pottery. The natural colors of the earth in pottery and ceramics—ranging from bright reds and yellows to shades of gray and brown—tell hidden tales of the land and its roots. Every piece of pottery reflects humanity’s deep bond with nature; every glass piece embodies the artist’s spirit. In this second issue of Artistam, we welcome works that capture the essence of earth in colors, forms, and textures. We invite artists, researchers, and writers to share their interpretations and works around the theme of earth, its role in pottery, ceramics, and glass art, and the aesthetics of this timeless element. “In this issue, we return to our origins.”
