Description: An installation by Negin Navabi was featured at the Venice Week Festival, held on the first floor of Loredan Palazzo, offering a glimpse into her visionary exploration of the future of art and nature. Navabi’s work stood at the intersection of science and creativity, embodying her belief that art, like the world itself, is in a constant state of evolution. She envisioned a future where artists would not only mold form and meaning but could also, through advancements in genetic science, infuse their creations with life itself. In her installation, Navabi introduced a collection of sculptural works that explored this bold concept. Through an almost alchemical process, she transformed recycled glass into delicate, otherworldly forms. Inspired by the organic intricacies of marine life and the protective, shell-like forms of seed pods, her creations invited viewers to ponder the untapped potential of both the material world and the natural realm. Each piece in her series, Nature in the Future, spoke to her desire to bridge the gap between the artificial and the living, proposing a world where human creativity could shape life as we know it. Her journey, however, was defined by resilience and innovation. Living in a country where access to traditional glass art facilities and resources was severely limited, Navabi turned adversity into opportunity. She painstakingly ground recycled window glass into fine powder, which she transformed into a unique paste capable of creating intricate forms up to 25 centimeters in diameter. Her process not only reflected her commitment to sustainability but also served as a testament to the power of creativity in overcoming material constraints. In her hands, discarded glass became a medium of potential—a reflection of the transformative power of art in imagining new futures.
